About The Desk Journal

The Desk Journal helps people set up a home office that fits their body, their room and their budget, and buy each piece once.

What we publish

  • Buying guides. 21 guides across desks, office chairs, standing desks, accessories, monitor setup. Every guide opens with one clear top pick, then explains who each alternative suits and who should skip it.
  • Advice. Plain-English answers to setup questions, like what height your desk should be and where to put your monitor.
  • Free tools. A desk height calculator that also checks which standing desks and converters reach your height, a chair fit checker on every chair guide, and a "Help me choose" quiz on the home page.
  • Ready-made setups. Complete setups for small rooms, tall people, sore backs, tight budgets and more, built from the top picks in our guides.

How we research

We compare makers' published specs, warranties and adjustment ranges, read independent reviews, and look for patterns in what owners report after weeks of use. We don't run a test lab, and we don't claim to. When a fact like a seat height or a warranty isn't published by the maker or a major retailer, we leave it out rather than guess. You can read the full process on how we choose products.

How we stay current

We check every Amazon link in our guides and replace products that are discontinued or no longer available. Each guide shows the date it was last updated and when its links were last checked.

How we make money

The Desk Journal is reader-supported. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Brands can't pay to be included or to rank higher. See our affiliate disclosure.
