Privacy policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
This policy explains what information The Desk Journal (thedeskjournal.com) collects when you visit, and how it is used.
Information we collect
The Desk Journal does not ask you to create an account, sign up or fill in forms. We don't collect your name, email address or payment details while you browse.
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply to you.
Cookies and affiliate links
The Desk Journal is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may join other affiliate programs. When you click a link to Amazon or another retailer, that retailer and third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, to record that you came from our site and to credit us for qualifying purchases. This happens on their sites, under their own privacy policies, including Amazon's Privacy Notice.
Our own pages don't set cookies.
Saved items and your settings
When you tap the heart to save a product, guide or setup, or enter your height in the chair fit checker, that information is kept in your own browser's local storage on your device. It isn't sent to us. You can clear it at any time by removing saved items or clearing your browser's site data.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn what readers look for, our pages send anonymous counts of a few actions: searches typed on this site (and whether they found a match), items saved or removed, quiz answers, chair fit checks (height rounded to the inch, weight rounded to 10 lb, if entered), and clicks on retailer links (which product and where on the page). Each count also includes the page, the time and a device type (phone, tablet or desktop).
These counts don't include your name, email, IP address, cookies or any ID that links them to you or to each other. They're stored with our database provider, Supabase, used only to improve the site, and never sold.
Links to other websites
Our guides link to retailers and manufacturers. We're not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, so please read their policies.
Children's privacy
This site is meant for adults shopping for home office products. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so won't stop you reading this site, though retailers' sites may work differently.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
